Neil Rawlinson

Neil Rawlinson

Neil was involved in developing the original Advantage West Midlands business case for the Manufacturing Technology Centre and has been a member since its inception. Neil left his position as Business Growth Director at Aero Engine Controls in April 2012 to join the MTC full time as Strategic Development Director.

Neil is a chartered mechanical engineer who started his career in the automotive sector with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, before moving into chassis and vehicle engineering management in the light commercial vehicle sector.

In 2001 he moved into Aerospace undertaking a number of business management and technical roles within TRW and then Goodrich. It was while he was Research and Technology Director that he realised he achieved the best return on investment from manufacturing rather than product research.

For several years, Neil has been closely involved in many government and industry collaborations to develop the aerospace and other electronics sectors; promote technology and innovation; and support UK SMEs and supply chain companies. He led the development of the first national technology roadmap for the Aerospace equipment sector and is the Midlands Aerospace Alliance board member responsible for delivery of the highly successful ATEP programme, supporting supply chain companies in the Midlands.

Dr Martin Ganley

Martin Ganley

Dr Martin Ganley has been with BRE since 2011. He is a member of the BRE Group Executive Committee and as a Divisional Director at BRE has responsibility for a range of business areas covering the testing, assessment and certification of construction products, people and organisations, including fire detection, security, microgeneration, BIM, factory production control and ISO auditing.

Martin is the BRE Director for the Transforming Construction Alliance (TCA), representing BRE on the CIH Board and providing governance of the BRE delivery programme. He is also Director of the BRE Centre for Smart Homes and Buildings, a collaborative hub to help accelerate the use of smart products and services in the built environment, and leads BRE’s strategy around IoT.

Prior to BRE, Martin worked in engineering consultancy, concentrating mainly on radiocommunications and working across construction, rail, defence and aerospace sectors. Martin holds a degree in Physics from the University of Manchester and a PhD in electronics from the University of York.

Professor Andy Neely

Andy Neely

Professor Andy Neely is Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Business Relations at the University of Cambridge and former Head of the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM). He is a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College and Director of the Centre for Digital Built Britain and Founding Director of the Cambridge Service Alliance.

Professor Neely is widely recognised for his work on the servitisation of manufacturing, as well as his work on performance measurement and management. He has held appointments at Cranfield University, London Business School, the University of Cambridge (where he was a Fellow of Churchill College), the University of Nottingham, (where he completed his PhD), and British Aerospace.

He was Deputy Director of AIM Research – the UK’s management research initiative – from 2003 until 2012. He was elected a Fellow of the Sunningdale Institute in 2005, a Fellow of the British Academy of Management in 2007, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in 2008,  and a Fellow of the European Operations Management Association in 2009 and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2018.

Keith Waller

Keith Waller

Keith Waller is the Transforming Construction Alliance’s Programme Director for the Core Innovation Hub.  A Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Keith has been involved in construction and infrastructure projects for over 30 years, leading many major projects in both the UK and overseas.

In 2010, Keith was seconded into government with Infrastructure UK (the predecessor to the Infrastructure and Projects Authority). He has served on several boards and cross-Whitehall groups, including the Infrastructure Client Group, the Offshore Wind Programme Board, Infrastructure Working Group of the Green Construction Board and the Government Construction Board. He has also advised a number of foreign governments on strategic infrastructure planning and delivery.

A keen advocate of driving innovative and productive solutions, his work in government led to the publication of the UK’s first National Infrastructure Plan, the development of the Infrastructure Cost Review and the IPA’s Transforming Infrastructure Performance programme, published in 2017.

Sam Stacey

Sam Stacey

Sam Stacey is Challenge Director – Transforming Construction at UKRI. He is leading the Transforming Construction challenge, a £170 million research and innovation investment, matched by £250 million from industry, to create new construction processes and techniques for building manufacture in the UK. Linked to the Construction Sector Deal, the programme includes funding for research, a new construction network and the creation of an active building centre and innovation hub.

Before joining UKRI, Sam was Director of Innovation, Industrialisation and Business Improvement at Skanska UK, a Trustee of the Building Research Establishment, and Chairman of the National Platform for Construction. Sam has also worked for Wates Construction and Buro Happold Engineering.

He is a Chartered Structural Engineer with an MBA from Henley Business School and degrees in Civil Engineering, Architecture and Philosophy from Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge.
